This help document
includes the following information:
Introduction
Simply stated,
Keywords Finder produces a list of likely
spelling and typing errors for any given
set of keywords or keyword phrases.
Keywords Finder
was born out of real need expressed
frequently by Internet Marketing
Professionals to predict non-obvious
misspellings and mistypings of words. In
order to effectively sell products online,
your website and online advertising should
ideally anticipate the search terms your
target users will use. This way you can
utilize these keywords in your website or
keywords lists for Overture, Google Ads
and other PPC advertising services.
But why predict
misspelled words? Google, Overture and
other search engines know what you mean
even when you misspell!?
There are two
answers to this question.
-
Targeting a
misspelling that others have not
discovered – makes you as
the only advertiser shown for a
particular search!
-
Misspelled words are targeted by
internet marketers far less than the
correctly spelled words. For this reason
the price of targeting these
misspellings is often much lower than
targeting the correct spelling!
|
Example:
Say an internet user is shopping
online for a mortgage.
Let’s assume there are 12
companies advertising their mortgage sites on Google. In order to land the top position the
top advertiser has bid $10. If you
want your ad to take a top position
you will either need to pay more
than $10 or find keywords that are
relevant but not yet targeted by
advertisements.
Since coming up
with new keywords may require time
that you don’t have, targeting
typos and misspelled keywords are
probably the fastest and best way to
get your ad or website shown to the
widest relevant audience for the
lowest price.
Let’s now
assume that keywords finder
generated the keyword ‘mortagge’.
This keyword may cost just $2 and
may be quite popular.

Workflow
As with any internet
tool there are many different ways to use
Keywords Finder. In this section I will
describe one tried and tested workflow.
1) Start by creating a list of common
keywords. There are several sites that
will help you come up with this list. If
your product is an MP3 Player you might
want to include words like walkman,
portable music, MP3 Player, etc.
2) Research the popularity and
attractiveness of your keywords words by
using a tool like:
Overture
Current Bid
Tool.
Keywords with high costs are likely
to be both popular and relevant. These are
the ones for which you want to generate
typos and misspellings using Keywords
Finder.
3) Enter the keywords or key phrases
that are most popular for your product.
Multiple keywords can be submitted
simultaneously. Simply add a comma between
each keyword or phrase. To submit keywords
about loans you might enter the following:
lloans, car loans, mortgages, refinancing
website”.
4) Keywords Finder creates a long list
of possible variants of your keywords.
5) Take this list and use it in Google
Adwords or other search engines PPC
systems.
6) Run your ad for 24-48 hours and
check to see which of the misspellings
were most common.
You can also see what placement
your ad got for each keyword.
7) Identify keywords that are both
fairly popular (in some cases tens of hits
a day may qualify) and for which your
advertisement comes up first or second.
These keywords are the ones you are
looking for.
8)
Often your ad can be displayed for
these keywords at a minimum rate ($.05 for
Google Ads or $.10 for Overture) because
no one else is bidding on them.
9)
Repeat for each new keyword that is
relevant.
